Stolen Purses Suspect Looking in Cars

Police report WAS filed

Date of occurrence: 11/16/2013

Approx time: 01:30 AM

Nearby street intersections: Brewers Yard Apartments then at Shell Station on High & Frankfort

Brief description:

At 1:30am Saturday Morning I caught a man looking in parked cars outside of the Brewers Yard Apartments. I confronted the individual and informed him to get out of here and stop looking into cars, that the Police were called and on their way. The man left on foot heading north towards high street. I leashed my German shepherd for a walk and found the individual behind the Shell Station on High discarding items into a trash can. The individual now had a dark 10 speed bike he did not have before. I again called the police now at 2:13am to give them his location and then again at 2:16 after he had left the area to tell them he had thrown two purses in the trash: one black canvas purse and the other white with circles. As of an hour later no officers contact me nor picked up the purses which best to my knowledge are still in the trash.

    *UPDATE*
i Went back to the trash cans this moring at 10:00am and found that the purses were NOT retrieved by the police as requested. Phoned left another report asking them to pick up the purses and return to their owners that there might be something of value to the owners.

First of all, thank you for your diligence on this. Second, what is wrong with the police here? This needs to be brought up at the next luncheon. There’s really no reason why they did not retrieve the purses last night…

I couldn’t agree more Jon. This irritates me to no end. It’s like they don’t give a chit. I’m so tired of this, and the lack of response. They made it sound (by the luncheon minutes) by saying thefts are happening everywhere, that we as citizens are being whiny and crybabies. The above scenario is infuriating to me. I hope Lonnie, you took those purses and helped return them to the owners. Thanks for your posting.

It could also depend what’s going on at the time. If there happened to be more urgent or life threatening situations during that Friday night shift, picking up purses in a dumpster would likely be low priority. Nothing was said about citizens being whiny crybabies, Tara. Please leave your personal opinions to yourself. This website is for sharing the facts.

Anyone can attend the Police Luncheon this month. You can ask the CPD any questions you have in person…

Police Luncheon Is One Week Early
Because of the conflict with Thanksgiving, the Monthly 11th Precinct Police Luncheon will be held next Thursday, November 21 at 12:30. The meeting will be at the German Village Meeting Haus. Holiday crime prevention will be discussed along with information on some recent car break-ins. Our officers and safety officials will be glad to discuss and answer any concerns of our residents. The information you can share will help our police officers in their efforts to keep our village safe.

Wednesday 11/13 (last one), we took the dogs for a walk and we noticed a bunch of papers laying on the floor behind Frank Fetch Park. We knew the person, the owner by looking at the papers. We called her and she told us that her car got broken into and they have taken her purse and dumped the contents on wherever we found them, Grant, Lindey’s manager said that several cars have been broken into, even one of the ballet parking attendants catch the guy inside one of the cars.
That same day I noticed I left my garage opened, my car unlocked inside. I didn’t pay attention and just closed it. The next day when I got into the car, I noticed that the center compartment, between the seat, was emptied and dumped in the floor. The glove compartment opened and the door compartments, the inside, dumped into the car floor. Nothing of value got taken like an ipod I had in there. Seems like they only took the change.
We didn’t call the police since it was already the next day

I meant no disrespect to the admin here. My words reflect my frustration.
