Back Yard Theft

NO police report was filed

Date of occurrence: 01/17/2014

Approx time: 03:00 AM

Nearby street intersections: Jaeger and Frankfort

Brief description:

Suspect entered our back yard and had a cart waiting in the alley behind our house. He stole metal sculptures, bird feeders and hangers, a copper bird bath and metal stand. A neighbor happened to hear the noise, went down to confront the suspect, but he had already left the scene. We have also been told by the same neighbor, that another suspect has been seen several times going through our trash.

We have had especially aggressive and messy trash can scavengers on Purdy Alley today, too. Between Columbus and Frankfort

Blenkner Street has lots of “trash can divers” right now. We see them often. This is where my son’s house was broken into last week and a neighbor two doors away had power lines cut and an attempted break in recently. The neighbor filed an incident report with the police, as did my son. Some of these streets (Blenkner, Purdy, Jaeger)
need more of a police presence.

If you have cats, leave the bags of litter on top. It seems to discourage trash can divers over on High St in the Brewery District.
