Brick thrown through window

Police report WAS filed

Date of occurrence: 04/21/2014

Approx time: 10:15 PM

Nearby street intersections: Third and Frankfort

Brief description:

Last night someone threw a brick into our front living room window. It was so aggressively thrown that glass shards projected through several rooms. Our neighbor might have seen 2 or 3 individuals walking south towards Schiller Park around same time as event but not sure if they did it. Origin of brick not known — nothing missing from our property or neighboring homes so it might have been carried or taken from another location. Very scary as we could have been sitting in front of window and been severely injured.

I am really sorry this happened to you. I am frustrated because even if the person had been seen carrying the brick and someone called the police I dont think anything would have been done. I have called the non emergency number several times about people loitering in places they dont belong – once I called to report 3 suspicious looking people in my alley who were ripping open boxes and the dispatcher asked how they were bothering me and told me they had a right to be there… Come to find out later in the day that the boxes they were ripping open were UPS packages that belonged to several neighbors and these people stole them – I understand that the police cant be everywhere all the time – but as the city continues to raise taxes on all of our properties in the village – and the crime continues to rise – it begs the question – what are we getting for our buck?

They are doing some kind of road work on Sycamore and there are a lot of bricks pulled up and piled on the sidewalk . . . May have been where they got the brick?

Well this is quite unfortunate and I’m sorry to hear that no body saw anything or has any information that could help.
@ Becky – My philosophy is that they have the right to be suspicious in an alley and I have the right to stand there with a loaded shotgun, and I have, after I call the non-emergency line of course ;)
