Was your car locked, or did they break your window?

  2. Matthew Eshelbrenner

The car was accidentally left unlocked for a short period of time. No broken windows.

Well that is good. Typically down here they try handles as they walk down the street, and grab anything if it’s open. Sorry that happened to you. If nothing is in sight and everything is locked, you typically don’t get messed with. Good luck and keep your eyes open!

Sadly I posted this on the Vehicle Breakin right before this one so we have an issue in the village…

Locked only gets you a broken window but even the authorities are split on this standing??
We left our Blazer unlocked, everything right down to the ice scraper removed and all the glove boxes open showing they TOO were empty and we STILL got a window broken out for our troubles!!! Shows the caliper of criminals we are dealing with out there I guess.

Still The best thing you can do is keep your car as clean as the day it rolled off the assembly line and it helps to leave your glove boxes open…. then it’s up to you if you lock it or not but there will be no temptation for the thugs out there.

After 16 years here, it has been my experience the vast majority of times they will not break a window unless they see something valuable. It doesn’t have to be showroom new, but I have found that locking and having neighbors look out for each other has improved conditions tremendously.

Did you lose a large cd case (over 100 cds) in the theft? If so, leave comment & I’ll arrange for return.
